KID ACNE: Stick to the plan

The preparations for this post took a little WHILE and finally I'm ready to present you one of my favourite artists - KID ACNE. He is very talented graffiti artist and illustrator, but unfortunately not everyone knows about his art (by the way he is a hip-hop musician too).

Malawi-born and now works and lives in Sheffield, UK. He started to write graffiti when he was only 12.
I don't remember when was the first time I came across his works, but as soon as I saw them, I fell in love with them. It's not a secret, that I'm huge Adventure Time fan and Acne's works remind me of my favourite cartoon.

My favourite Acne's characters are the Stabby Women. Females with different swords and knives, they look extremely playful and provocative. I wanted to purchase some Stabby Women prints. but I was late, so I decided to make a tribute to Kid Acne in my Moleskine. Here's the result: my favourite Stabby Women and one of the most favourite Acne's work- South Yorks cover-art.

As far as I know, South Yorks cover-art is inspired by Sonic Youth's Goo cover and Pettibon.

Kid Acne adds cheerful comic characters to our daily boring routine and sometimes there's some sort of strange feeling that he is everywhere. He doesn't think of himself as of an urban artist, but if you travel a lot, you'll have the great possibility to find his works throughout the streets of major European cities and even in USA.
He also was in collaboration with Prada, Kenzo, Elle, Kidrobot and many more.

From time to time, you can purchase his prints ( they usually come in limited edition), colour-books and other merchandise right here.

I can't forget to mention his tricky, jocular and epic slogans around the world. Here are the brightest:

I have a goal, I want to organise some sort of ART HUNTING somewhere in Europe and I hope that I'll be lucky enough to find Acne's works on the streets of Paris, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Zurich...And this summer I'm going to USA, who knows, maybe I'll complete my tiny goal.
But the biggest dream is to come to my favourite Steel City - Sheffield and to discover Kid Acne's work there as this is the city where he lives ;)

Hope that you enjoyed reading this post. Here are more Stabby Women:

All we need is FAITH

Due to the political situation in my country, most of the bands tend to cancel their concerts. But last week there was one of the few uncancelled concerts. - 30 Seconds to Mars.
Triad
I have been listening to this band for a big while. They visited Ukraine in 2011, but I was unable to come.
And suddenly, they announced their Love Lust Faith + Dreams Tour. I couldn't resist, so I bought the ticket.
To tell the truth, it's not the crazy physical obsession, that I have towards the members of this band, but the immense respect. They came to Ukraine not only to perform, but also to support.

Echelon

During the concert there was indescribable atmosphere and explosive flow of energy. If you listen to their last album, you will notice that there's a choir singing. I was pleasantly surprised when during their performance, I could hear that choir, and I was even a part of it, because this choir consisted of the fans, who knew the lyrics. Also I started to respect this band even more after seeing their behavior: there was no pathos, they were inviting ordinary fans to the stage, communicating with them, and even after the concert in their hotel lobby, they were still taking pictures with their fans and having nice conversations.

Next day I attended the premiere of their ARTIFACT movie. As for musician, it was really interesting to watch, and I still recommend it to everyone who is somehow interested in their music. It shows that the road to success is extremely hard and you should do everything in your power to succeed.

For those who is interested, here is the set-list:
1. Birth
2. Night of the Hunter
3. Search and Destroy
4. This Is War
5. Conquistador

Start Anew

Sometimes it feels like your mind is a cage and there's a volcano about to explode. And it seems like there's no escape. You find yourself staying on the battlefield, but you don't know yet, that you're fighting against yourself. This is how I feel everyday of my life, and you can't even imagine how hard is it to deal with this feeling. Fortunately, I found some sort of solution how to fight my demons, so I decided to return to blogging. I used to be a blogger long time ago and this is my personal sort of prison break.
I can't decide on the exact format of this blog, so sometimes I may surprise you ( in a good way, I believe). All I can say that my blog will be an explosive mixture of different events, my recent discoveries, life experience, etc.
I hope that you'll like my project.

Waiting for your feedback.
