KID ACNE: Stick to the plan

The preparations for this post took a little WHILE and finally I'm ready to present you one of my favourite artists - KID ACNE. He is very talented graffiti artist and illustrator, but unfortunately not everyone knows about his art (by the way he is a hip-hop musician too).

Malawi-born and now works and lives in Sheffield, UK. He started to write graffiti when he was only 12.
I don't remember when was the first time I came across his works, but as soon as I saw them, I fell in love with them. It's not a secret, that I'm huge Adventure Time fan and Acne's works remind me of my favourite cartoon.

My favourite Acne's characters are the Stabby Women. Females with different swords and knives, they look extremely playful and provocative. I wanted to purchase some Stabby Women prints. but I was late, so I decided to make a tribute to Kid Acne in my Moleskine. Here's the result: my favourite Stabby Women and one of the most favourite Acne's work- South Yorks cover-art.

As far as I know, South Yorks cover-art is inspired by Sonic Youth's Goo cover and Pettibon.

Kid Acne adds cheerful comic characters to our daily boring routine and sometimes there's some sort of strange feeling that he is everywhere. He doesn't think of himself as of an urban artist, but if you travel a lot, you'll have the great possibility to find his works throughout the streets of major European cities and even in USA.
He also was in collaboration with Prada, Kenzo, Elle, Kidrobot and many more.

From time to time, you can purchase his prints ( they usually come in limited edition), colour-books and other merchandise right here.

I can't forget to mention his tricky, jocular and epic slogans around the world. Here are the brightest:

I have a goal, I want to organise some sort of ART HUNTING somewhere in Europe and I hope that I'll be lucky enough to find Acne's works on the streets of Paris, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Zurich...And this summer I'm going to USA, who knows, maybe I'll complete my tiny goal.
But the biggest dream is to come to my favourite Steel City - Sheffield and to discover Kid Acne's work there as this is the city where he lives ;)

Hope that you enjoyed reading this post. Here are more Stabby Women:
